I've concentrated on the snooker aspect of the game as opposed to Pool, Billiards etc.
I'll get the bad points out the way first. Oddly enough, the initial presentation screens and menus are more like but shame more time wasn't spent on the actual game play.
Unlike some of the reviewers, I don't think the player models look too bad although the hair colour is questionable. When did Steve Davis get black hair?
Other niggles are when you win a match you always do the same punch in the air and the opponents always clap in the same manner from the same position in the arena.
Maybe there were time constraints on the development team but I don't think it would have taken too much time or imagination for the developers to get the player models to do something different once in a while. Also, the audience tend not to clap often enough.
Having played it for a few months now I've managed to pull off one or two absolutely stunning shots in my time not to hear even a murmer from the audience. I haven't commented on the commentary as I have switched off but I've heard it's pretty bad too! For example, if you're 3 - 0 in a match, say, have finished your previous game and select 'Quit', next time you reload you will start off again at 0 - 0.
This seems mad to me and I'm surprised more people haven't picked up on this. The latter view is the one to use I've since found out.
My earnings are way above even the world champions. How so? OK, the good points I'm no expert but the ball physics seem plausible to me. Only niggle I have is that in my opinion the balls are quicker on a competitive table in real life. I should point out you really need to be a fan of snooker in the first place otherwise you'll probably get bored.

As a fan of snooker games, and with PS2 being an old console this was one of the most recent games I could find, fortunately I like this one so I expect to play this a lot!
Great snooker game for ps2, snooker is the best. In my opinion this a pretty good game, in terms of its subject. One of the main reasons I got it was the extra addition of the World Pool Championship. I have played several of the earlier versions PSone and PS2 and would suggest it is the best of those ones. The addition of the cue ball position marker is probably the best asset to the game and the chances are a high break is soon on the cards.
When playing the other versions, I often either played too hard or too soft, meaning the cue ball ended up a: on the other side of the table or b: missing altogether, causing a foul or worse letting your opponent clean up.
Which it did, quite often. The addition of the cue ball positioning marker - a grey circle shows where the cue ball should end up - the smaller the circle the more accurate the position - this does not take into account whether there are other balls in the way, so a shot can still go wrong. A Major problem is the commentators, both for the Snooker and Pool.
They are very repetative and seem to think the player is the Rocket, ie if you take more than 2 seconds for a shot they complain and talk about cups of coffee and eating sandwiches etc.
The Pool version which also involves the cue ball positioning marker, is one of the better features allowing you to play in several competitions. Even with addition of the ball marker, if you make a mistake in pool for instance it is very likely that the opponent will win - indeed in Pool, if your opponent pots a ball on the break they may or should I say WILL play on and clear the table, without you even having the chance to a miss a shot!
Just like real life I suppose. One person found this helpful. Ok i know its a Snooker sim and the word exciting doesnt instantly spring to mind, but this game really is pretty nail bitingly tense and dare i say teetering on the edge of exciting. The new camera angles and shot indicators make this game really enjoyable.
The graphics are good and the gameplay is great. Given the new angles and shot indicators make potting the ball easier and positioning a little more accurate, it doesnt take away the difficulty of winning matches. Certain players can and will clear a whole table after one tiny mistake on your part.
